The Business Development Manager position within the Financial Services market is primarily responsible for marketing and selling the company’s services to new and existing clients within specified vertical markets. This is accomplished by developing relationships and partnerships with clients in order to better understand their business and thus provide them with a complete business solution as it relates to their IT networking needs.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for researching, identifying, qualifying, and establishing new clients based upon the company’s sales and marketing strategy. This includes:
- Researching and developing lists of potential clients.
- Following-up on sales leads and making cold calls on potential clients to create new leads.
- Performing sales meetings at client sites to qualify clients and potential sales opportunities.
- Working with pre-sales engineers to develop sales proposals and present them to clients.
- Establishing and maintaining industry contacts that lead to sales.
- Responding to all RFPs and delivering to clients.
- Closing opportunities and finalizing contracts.
This position is responsible for managing their existing clients by enhancing the established relationships and partnerships. This includes:
- Continually learning the business influencers of the client.
- Engage in strategic planning with the client as it relates to their IT and business needs.
- Researching, identifying, and selling IT solutions that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the clients’ business.
- Continually communicate industry and IT trends to clients.
This position is responsible for creating their own strategic sales and marketing plan that supports the departmental and company goals and objectives. This includes:
- Developing and maintaining long and short term sales and marketing plans.
- Completing Sales forecasting and planning.
- Maintaining an up-to-date awareness of strategic plans by monitoring, analyzing, and communicating to the team the status.
- Continually educating themselves on IT trends and new products/services in order to educate their clients and adjust their strategic plans as necessary.
This position is responsible for reviewing and approving all administrative paperwork and activities as appropriate. This includes but not limited to:
- Client invoices.
- Employee time records and expense reports for those employees working on their accounts.
Requirements include:
Education & Related Experience
- BS degree in Business, Marketing, or related field OR equivalent related work experience.
- General understanding of LAN/WAN technology and how it integrates into business.
- 2+ years experience selling IT services and/or IT solutions.
- Must possess a consultative/strategic sales approach.
- Must understand ROI and TCO and how they relate to selling services.
- A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
- An ability to think proactively and plan over a 1-2 year time span.
- Proven strategic planning and sales planning ability.
- The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Prior experience working with a CRM system.
